5.2 No state-enforced segregation

The NDP makes state-enforced segregation impossible—i.e. the enforced separation of groups in public spaces.

In the U.S., the legally mandated version was called Jim Crow laws. These laws required separate facilities for Black and white people: drinking fountains, schools, buses, toilets, restaurants, even hospital wards.

It was a state‑enforced racial discrimination, a caste system based on race. It wasn’t just social custom. It was written into law, enforced by police, courts, and local governments.
