23 Research from 2010
Historical development (editorial note): The restored Subversion history records an
intensive period of work on spatially represented vector operations. Revision 936 on 30 March expanded
the interval-set support and added a large analysis of effective site identifiers. Revisions 944 and 945
on 20 April implemented transmission of the initial state of a vector field. A layered reorganization on
23 April created the surviving WorkingSet/CompOp/VectorOT and VectorOps paths, and
revision 948 on 27 April explicitly removed support for the old linear history-buffer approach.
Revision 951 on 29 April recorded the experiment in which insertion intervals overlap instead of being
split. Revision 962 on 21 May removed shifting temporal coordinates after it caused exponential growth.
Effective site identifiers were calculated on demand from June, and revision 990 on 2 July added deletion
intervals, RFactor calculation across deletions, and application of merged insertion/deletion deltas. These
changes are the implementation background for many of the retrospective web notes written in December
2021.

The cxOperation vector implementation is retained at Subversion revision 991, dated 5 July 2010. This is
a coherent snapshot immediately after insertion/deletion delta support was introduced and includes
VectorOT, VectorOps, and the vector delta reader and writer.
