The following is a more specific example to illustrate the Operational Transform (OT) technique. O1 and O2 are respectively insert and delete operations on a shared text document.
In this example the O2 delete position needed to be shifted by two characters to the right as O2 was transformed to include the effect of O1.
This example doesn’t convey the complexity of the problem and the subtle issues that have led to ineffective solutions for so many years in the literature.
