Site Identifiers

In the CEDA distributed database system each site (or more accurately each working set) is allocated a unique site identifier (SiteId).

A site identifier is a 128 bit GUID.

There is a total order on site identifiers. This is used to break ambiguity in the merging algorithms in the case of symmetry. This occurs in the following two cases:

• concurrent assignment operations that target the same assignable variable
• concurrent insertion operations at the same position in the same vector or string variable
